Mission

Leadership is accountable to ensure staff is qualified and competent. Nursing services


that are organized in a manner that promotes decision-making for care of patients and families
within the patient care setting.

General Objective:

A leadership that equips members with the tools they need to perform; knowledge of
customer expectations; use of strategic planning with follow-through; development and
management of human resources; empowerment and involvement of members and achievement
of excellent results. During the controlling phase of the management process, standards are set,
performance is measured, and action is taken to correct discrepancies between standards and
actual performance.

Specific Objectives:

1. To assist and support each member to develop and implement an individualized career
plan.
2. Committed to a highly developed and unique orientation for nurse leaders reinforcing the
philosophy of shared governance, professional accountability and key concepts and
strategies for nurse retention.
3. To provide the resources and tools to support members in the management of their unit
(s).
4. Apply the concept of effective leadership to the profession of nursing.
5. Develop a time management program.
