Summary

Cookie after cookie after cookie, Hannah is slowly forming into an unhealthy

consumer. Becoming Obese. She started out at 100 lbs, and then she was at her present

weight of 296. Now known as “Hefty Hannah”, she is determined to make a change!

“DING DONG”

Hannah rushes to the door, excited to meet her new coach.

“Hi, my name is Coach Terinteno; I will be your weight loss coach”

“OH MY GOSH. I’m Hanna Berfendok. I’m so ecstatic to meet you.”

“Great, now let’s get to work. You will have 120 days with me in this program.

First we need to go over your dieting. What do you eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?”

“For breakfast I usually eat 3 links of sausage, 4 Chocolate Chip Pancakes with

loads of syrup and butter, 3 eggs, and 2 French toast with powdered sugar on top, with a

cup of Caramel Latte.”

“WOW I need to stop you there because that is too much food and it’s loaded

with fat!!!!”

“OH NO! I’m not going to be able to reach my goal in 120 days.”

“Don’t lose hope, as long as you exercise and eat well everyday you will meet

your goal. Now let us go over what you should eat.”

“OKAY!”

“Now first understand that you have a limit of calories you eat daily. As an adult

woman you should consume 2,050 calories a day. The extra calories your body doesn’t

need turns into fat, causing you to have major health issues.”

“So is that why I tend to gain weight?”

“Yes, so we need to be careful with the intake of calories we consume.”

“Thanks Coach Terinteno.”

“Now, let’s get to working out!”

The next day Hanna had weighed 295.5 lbs. She could not believe it. She

was actually losing weight! She went to her dining room and began to count calories.

“240 calories”, she said as she looked at her doughnut.

“620 calories” she said checked her chocolate chip muffin

“111.6 calories” she said as she examined her orange juice

Hannah ate her breakfast and all of a sudden.

“DING DONG”

Hannah rushed over to the door.

“Coach Terinteno. I didn’t expect you to show up this early in the day. I was just

finishing breakfast.”

“I know. I wanted to see if you were eating correctly as I told you.”

Hannah walked Coach Terinteno to the kitchen.

“OH MY GOSH HANNAH. What have you been eating?”

“I counted my calories. What did I do wrong??”

“This is about 971.6 calories. You only have 1078.4 calories left. Plus, all this

food you are eating is very unhealthy. You need your vitamins and minerals.”

“What are vitamins and minerals?

“Vitamins are necessary to live a healthy life. Vitamins are a group of 13 organic

substances that our bodies need in order to work properly and to help regulate functions

within cells. There is Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, K. Liver, green leafy vegetables, and egg

yolks are an example of Vitamin A. Fish, Meat, and Whole-grain bread are examples of

Vitamin B. Oranges, Grapefruit and Lime are excellent resource of Vitamin C. Milk,

Cereals, and oily fish and great sources of Vitamin D. Nut, Seeds, Chicken, and

Vegetable Oil are sources of Vitamin E. Lastly Cabbage and Peas are sources of Vitamin

K.”

“Okay, then what are minerals?”

“Minerals are only needed in very small amounts, but even in tiny quantities.

Their presence is essential to good health. Minerals are vital to a number of processes in

the body: bone and tooth formation and biological reactions, water balance, hormone

production, and the function of the Circulatory, Nervous and Digestive System. There are

more than 60 minerals in the body, but only about 15 are considered essential and we

must ensure that these are present in our foods we eat. Example of mineral rich foods is

milk, dark chocolate, seaweed, pumpkin seeds, dried apricots, nut, bananas, and eggs.”

“Wow thanks Coach”

From then on, day after day she tried her hardest to lose weight. Then the day

came, her final weigh in. Her mother, Father, Brother, sister, and coach all surrounded

her and the scale. She took a deep breath, stood on the scale, and watched as the red

meter went left to right.

“OH MY GOSH. I WEIGH 136 POUNDS!”
