51 12 000 Removing and installing complete rear

bumper (M3)

Remove trim on rear bumper trim.

Release screws (1).

Installation:
Tightening torque 51 12 2AZ.

Release screw (1) on left/right on wheel arch trim (2).

Release expansion rivet (1) on left/right.

Lift out wheel arch finisher (2) on left/right and pull bumper (3) a
little to rear.
Without PDC:
All except Convertible with TV:
Pull off bumper (3) towards rear.

Version with Park Distance Control (PDC):

Pull bumper (1) towards rear slightly.
Unclip cable holder in area (2).
Disconnect plug connections of ultrasonic sensors (3).
All except Convertible with TV:
Pull off bumper (1) towards rear.
Convertible with TV only:
Remove storage tray in luggage compartment on left.
Disconnect plug connection (1).

Convertible with TV only:

Pull out cable plug with grommet (1) towards rear.
Release nut (2) on left/right.
Pull off bumper (3) towards rear.
51 12 001 Replacing rear bumper (M3)

Replacing rear bumper center section (carrier)

(51 12 011):
Remove complete rear bumper.
Convertible with TV only:
Remove TV bumper antenna.

Release expansion rivets (1) and screws (2).

Remove center section of bumper (3) (carrier) from bumper
trim (4).

Installation:
Make sure nut (1) is properly fitted in carrier (2).

Note:
The work for "Replacing center section of bumper (carrier) at
rear" (51 12 011) ends here.
Replacing rear bumper trim (51 12 157) and replacing rear
bumper (51 12 001):

Unclip cover (1) for towing eye at opening.

Lever out retaining strap and remove cover (1).
Remove metal nuts (2) from bumper trim (3).
Version with Park Distance Control (PDC):
Lever out catches (4) and remove ultrasonic sensors (5).

Installation:
Retaining lugs (1) on ultrasonic sensor (2) must not be
damaged.
