On February 26, 2011 during the morning hours, deputies were dispatched to the 1300 block of Nash Street, in
Ypsilanti Township for a shooting that just occurred. Deputies discovered Marcus Tramale Jones, black male,
02/21/1978, outside of his home, murdered. Deputies were later dispatched to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for another
subject who had been shot and determined the two shootings were related. There were many witnesses to the
incident but no one would come forward to identify the subjects involved.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Detectives took the lead and were determined to identify the person responsible
for the murder of Marcus Tramale Jones. Detectives gathered critical information and evidence was obtained
leading to the arrest and subsequent arraignment of Darnell Javon Brown, black male, 04/29/1979.
Darnell Javon Brown was arraigned today on the warrant and is charged with:
CT1-Open Murder
CT2-Assault with Intent to Murder
CT3-Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder
CT4-Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
CT5-Weapons-Carrying Concealed (CCW)
CT6-Weapons-Firearms-Possession by Felon
CT7-Weapons-Felony Firearm
A Preliminary Exam has been scheduled for March 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM; Darnell Javon Brown was remanded to
the County Jail with no bond.
