How Does Waste Affect the Environment : Hazardous Wastes and the Implications

Waste can be organic or inorganic, degradable or non -bio degradable products. Bio- degradable
and organic wastes can be decomposed naturally by some useful organisms like bacteria. But
major threat to the environment is due to the inorganic , non -biodegradable wastes. Dumping
any kind of wastes either medical or industrial or households items always poses a threat to the
environment. Some inorganic agents in the waste such as plastic, glass, etc can cause soil and
water pollution as they do not decompose, while some toxic gases released from the rotting
rubbish can cause air pollution. Some of these hazardous gases can lead to fatal human health
diseases.
How Does Waste Affect the Environment : Waste Management

We are an integral part of the environment. Everything we do affects the environment which
either directly or indirectly affects us. Hence environmental problems such as depletion of
minerals, soil and water resources and waste disposal are issues that have to be dealt with
concern. Making use of some of the waste things like old clothes for cleaning, plastic bags for
packaging, or making some decorative articles from worn out clothes, toys etc and reduce the
wastes to some extent. Apart from this, donating discarded clothes and toys to the poor is a sure
way of reducing waste to a major extent.
How Does Waste Affect the Environment : Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to Mangae Wastes

Educating people to make them aware of the disasters caused by wastes let out into the
environment is the need of the hour. Each one must participate to make the surroundings clean,
healthy and beautiful. Schools, colleges and other educational institutions should provide the
knowledge of controlling and managing wastes to save the future generations from being
affected adversely by the diseases caused by wastes that affect the environment. The three R's -
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle should be implemented to control and manage the ever increasing
wastes to save our planet.
