Tittle : “Why I am Interested Choosing Environmental Engineering??”

My motivation to enroll Master Program in the University of Philippines, Diliman is to improve

the ability of environmental analysis. In Bachelor Program, I accomplished the mass movement
risk mapping for graduate from Bachelor Program. The mapping is finished in order to divide the
study area in accordance with the risk level that may occur in the research area. As for, this
research might be expected to help the local people by preventing and reducing possible losses
from landslide hazard. From those facts, I would like to study more about the environment,
particularly regarding disaster and its mitigation, and also to enlarge area with sustainable
development.

Philippine has similar morphology compare with Indonesia, so it may have similar problem
about landslide hazards. According to my advisor, Prof. Dwikorita Karnawati, it can be useful if
I study more in University of Philippines. Furthermore, I can improve method of landslide
management and mitigation by combine Indonesia and Philippine method.

By following this program I expect to combine to the experience in dealing with others,
especially with different background social and culture in Philippines, so that could be
established good cooperation between Indonesia and other countries in Asia and the world. Also,
can increase the ability to communicate with others using international language and increase my
self-confidence.

This is the reason why I want to continue my education in the Philippines.
