Tuesday, April 12th has been changed to an all
school casual day in celebration of our
Accreditation results! Please see today’s school
newsletter for details. The first grade auction
casual day has been rescheduled for Wednesday,
April 27th. This is our first day back after Easter
Vacation. Story readers for the week will be:
Monday- Isabella, Tuesday-Jordyn, Wednesday-Alex,
Thursday- Olivia, and Friday- Jaxson.
Next week in Religion …
This week we will discuss the events of Holy Week.
The children will not have a chapter test.
We will end our week with The Living Stations of the
Cross.
Next week in Reading/Phonics …
Our story for the week is The Broken Bone. It
focuses on the use of the long o spellings. We will
also continue with our study of the Diphthongs oo, oi,
oy, ou, ow, au, and aw. We will also work on the long a
spellings.
Next week in Spelling …
The spelling words for Friday, April 15th are: paw,
saw, draw, law, claw, thaw, jaw, raw, launch, August,
*there, *because. These words have the au and aw
Diphthongs. Diphthongs are special vowel teams.
When seen together in a word they say one new
sound.

Next week in Math…
We will continue in Chapter 7. The children will be
counting to 100. They will be skip counting by 2’s, 5’s,
and 10’s.
Next week in Social Studies/Science…
In Social Studies we continue in Unit 5, “This is Our
Country.” In Science we will investigate matter.
Matter exists as a solid, liquid, or gas.
Next week in English/Handwriting …
We will be spending time reading, sharing and writing
various forms of poetry. We will also be working with
antonyms, synonyms, and putting words in alphabetical
order.
Important dates/reminders:
• Library books due Tuesday, April 12th
• Please check your student’s fleece jacket. Kayla
is missing hers. It has “Kayla S” on the tag.
