We will complete our review of Unit 4 and begin
Chapter 17 of Unit 5. Chapter 17, “Jesus” Followers
Become the Church.” The test for Chapter 17 will
be on Friday, May 6th.

Next week in Reading/Phonics …
We will finish the story The Broken Bone and begin
The Gift. It focuses on the use of the word families
ind, old, ost, and ild. Often these words are
pronounced with a long vowel sound, even though the
syllable is closed.
Next week in Spelling …
The spelling words for Friday, April 29th are: go,
bone, throne, grow, wrote, stroke, show, follow,
below, shown. These words have the long o spelling
patterns.

Next week in Math…
We will continue in Chapter 7. The children will be
counting to 100. They will be skip counting by 2’s, 5’s,
and 10’s. The children will learn what it means to be an
odd or an even number. The test for Chapter 7 is
tentatively scheduled for Friday, April 29th.
Next week in Social Studies/Science…
In Social Studies we continue in Unit 5, “This is Our
Country.” In Science we will investigate matter.
Matter exists as a solid, liquid, or gas.
Next week in English/Handwriting …
Is it dear, or deer? The children will learn all about
homophones. They will draw pictures to show the
correct meaning of the homophone and then choose
the correct word to use in sentences.
