Koppal is a city situated in the north Karnataka, India. The

population of Koppal is around 419,000. Kolhapur district contains 4
talukas. The main languages are Kannada, Telugu and English.

Plumbing, from the Latin for lead (plumbum), is the skilled trade of
working with pipes and tubing for fluids such as water, sewage, steam
and natural gas. Plumbing originated during the ancient civilizations
such as Roman, Persian, Indian, and Chinese civilizations as they
developed public baths and needed to provide fresh water and
drainage. The piping used to convey the water and waste was often
made of lead. Because lead is very toxic, nearly all modern
manufactured plumbing products and materials are lead free.

Sanitation is a term for the hygienic disposal or recycling of waste

materials, particularly human excrement and urine. Sanitation is an
important public health measure which is essential for the prevention
of disease. Sanitation is particulary important in isolation of water
supply systems from sewage discharge. A considerable fraction of the
world is lacking adequate basic sanitation; partly this deficiency has
an ecomomic root, but it is primarily a result of overcrowding and
overpopulation, since the earth's land and water resources have a

limited carrying capacity for sanitation needs.

HISTORY

In July 1945, two young brothers P.P Chhabria and K.P

Chhabria came to Pune from Karachi in search of a livelihood and
within six months set up a small shop selling electrical cables. The
retail business became quite successful. A sizeable order in the mid

1950's from the Defence Department for wire harnesses for trucks and
tanks bolstered their confidence and they decided to manufacture
Cables, themselves.

Starting as a small-scale industrial unit in 1957, they manufactured

PVC insulated cables for the automobile industry. Finolex brand was
born from "Fine" & "Flexibles" and "O" with an electric arc across it -
signifying the electrical cable business the company was in. Their
relentless search for growth and doughty perseverance saw them
through some difficult times and in 1972 the enterprise turned into a
limited company.

Since then, there has been no looking back and following a public
offering in July 1983, Finolex Cables Limited embarked on a
continuous process of expansion and modernization which enabled it
to become the most diversified largest cable manufacturer in the
country.

Their relentless quest for growth saw the brothers establishing Finolex
Industries Limited in 1981. The company sought to manufacture Rigid
PVC Pipes and Fittings at Pune, which find large-scale application in
the agriculture sector. In a shrewd move towards backwards
integration, the company has set up a PVC resin manufacturing
facility at Ratnagiri on the west coast of India.

The early nineties saw the Finolex Group expanding into new

business domains to manufacture Optic Fibre Cables and Copper

Rods. Today the Group turnover exceeds Rs.20 Billion (about US $
450 million)

FCL and FIL are the two group companies whose equity shares
are listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock
Exchange. Global Depository Receipts of FCL are also listed on the
Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Professionally managed, with
continuous updating of technology and strict quality controls, Finolex
strives for maximum customer satisfaction. Over the years, it has
attained a significant position on the industrial map of India.

FINOLEX CABLES LIMITED

Finolex Cables Limited (FCL) the flagship company of the Group

has plants located in Pimpri and Urse in Pune as well as in Goa - all of
which are accredited with IS/ISO 9002. In addition, the plants at Urse

and Goa have recently been awarded the IS/ISO 14001 certification.
FCL takes pride in being the only company in India that offers "Total
Cable Solutions" and boasts of a portfolio that includes a wide range
of cables such as:

• PVC insulated single & multi core industrial flexible cables

• PVC insulated winding wires
• 3 core flat cables for submersible pumps
• Cables for the agricultural and automobile sectors and
• LT power and control cables

For the communication industry, FCL offers

• Jelly Filled Telephone cables

• Trunk & Distribution CATV and Branch & Drop Co-axial
cables for cable television
• LAN cables and Copper & Fibre components for structural
cabling

The backward integration of the group into manufacturing PVC Resin

at Finolex Industries, Ratnagiri and 99.97% pure electrolytic grade
Continuous Cast Copper rods at Finolex Wire Products, Goa, gives
the Finolex group the unique advantage of having total control on the
quality of its products.

have also received certification under the internationally recognized
CB-IECEE Scheme.

The company has been exporting cables for the past two decades
mainly to the Gulf countries and export growth has accelerated in the
past few years as a result of successful tapping of new market
segments.

The company also manufactures PVC Sheets which can be used for
roofing and construction, interior decoration, partition work and AC
ducts have high resistance to weathering and corrosive atmosphere.
These Sheets have high impact strength with high degree of
formability and thermal and electrical insulation properties. The light
transmission for clear sheets is of the highest degree.

incorporation in 1981. Beginning as a modest rigid PVC (Poly Vinyl

Chloride) pipe manufacturer, FIL went in for backward integration in
April 1994 and commissioned its PVC Plant near Ratnagiri (350 Kms,
South of Mumbai) on the West Coast of Maharashtra State. Since then
FIL is one of the largest PVC Resin manufacturer in India. Moreover,
the PVC & Pipes Pant at Ratnagiri has been awarded the ISO 14001

in agriculture, housing, telecom, industry, etc. ranging between 20mm
diameter to 400-mm diameter. Pipes division of FIL has won
PLEXCONCIL “Top Exporter Award” on five occasions.

FIL's PVC plant enjoys many locational advantages, the important

one being proximity to the market. Further, the Pipes division of FIL
and FIL's associated concern consumes captively about 45,000 metric
tonnes of PVC per annum; a distinct advantage available only to FIL.

As a part of its PVC complex, FIL has set up an open sea cryogenic
jetty. The Finolex jetty is the first of its kind in the private sector in
India. It is located near the PVC plant and is presently utilised for
importing the feedstock for manufacture of PVC as well as for
importing LPG.
