American Red Cross Offers Updated Babysitter’s Training Course

JACKSON, MI — The South Central Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross will be offering a
babysitter’s training course at the Michindoh Conference Center on Saturday, March 12, 2011, from 9:00 a.m.
– 3:00 p.m. The class costs $50 and will take place at the conference center, located at 4545 East Bacon Road in
Hillsdale, Michigan.

The babysitter’s training course is a newly revised offering by the American Red Cross. This class is
aimed at youth, ages eleven to fifteen. It will teach these young people how to care for children and infants; be
good leaders and role models; make good decisions, solve problems and stay safe; handle emergencies such as
injuries, illnesses, and household accidents; and write resumes and interview for babysitting jobs.

This new version of the course has been expanded with the newest updates, including the latest de-
velopments in first aid and cardiovascular care. Optional lessons for first aid and CPR certification may also be
included in the course. Additional lessons will provide in-depth coverage of previous content, as well as new
content for more experienced babysitters.

The cost of the class includes training materials, packets of information, and a certificate stating the
certification of the attendee. The class uses videos, activities, and hands-on training for a complete learning
experience for the eleven to fifteen year old babysitter.

For more information or to register for the course, please call the South Central Michigan Chapter of
the American Red Cross at 517-782-9486 or visit www.redcross-scmichigan.org.
