Arizona

Who was involved
 Ernesto Miranda was involved with a case that had
charged him for raping and kidnapping a young girl.
 Arizona was involved because the police arrested him
for raping and kidnapping a young girl.
 Chief Justice Earl Warren ,stated that criminals must be
informed of their legal rights, or they are being denied
their liberties granted by the constitution.
What caused to be this case
 Miranda was arrested in his home, taken to the
police station, identified by the victim and then
taken into an interrogation room.
 He was taken in custody to Phoenix Police
Station.
Where it was taken place
 Phoenix Arizona is where the court case took
place .
When did this case take place?
 Day of arrest was March 13,1963
 Through out the entire case taking place from
year 1963 to 1966.
Why was this taken place
 Ernesto Miranda was convicted of full counts of
Rape, Kidnapping, Robbery, Assault, and
Burglary.
 Result’s towards this case, the statement ‘’You
have the right to remain silent. Anything you say
may be and will be used against you in a court of
law.’’ was enforced.
How has it affected our lifestyle
 The following statement has affected our lifestyle by informing
the current arrest their given legal rights. Knowing if they cant
afford a lawyer, then one will be appealed to them for the court.
 ‘’You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say may be
and will be used against you in the court of law.
 At the end of trial Miranda, did not understand the meaning of
the following statement. Signing a Confession note that was used
against him. He implied he did not comprehend the legal rights
statement.
