MICHAEL FARADAY

Introduction
Personal life
 British chemist & physicist
 Born on the 22th September 1791 in south London
 His family were not well off and he only received a
basic, formal education
 When he was 14 he apprenticed to a local bookbinder
and the following 7 years while he worked there, he
read many books on scientific subjects
 He was well known for electricity
 In 1831, he began a series of experiments to do with
electricity
 He died in 1867
Professional life
 In 1831, he discovered electromagnetism induction
 This would have been done in a lab and lots of
testing to find this out and prove it
Applications
 His discovery of electro magnetic induction is found in many things
today. That is why I think it is important. Without some of the
following things its in, life wouldn’t be the same:
 Induction motors
 Electrical generators
 Transformers
 Contactless charging of rechargeable batteries
 Graphic tablet
 Wireless energy transfer
 Electric guitar pickups
 Current transformer meters
 Clamp meter
 Audio and video tapes
 I think that the electromagnetic induction was the
most important and that is why I have used that one
throughout this presentation, not any others. As
without this life may not have evolved as well and
many extras we have today may not have been
around.
