Once, A young girl was waiting her

flight time in the waiting hall in one of
the biggest airports

As she had to wait for hours,
she decided to buy a book and to
spend her time. She bought,a
packet of cookies too.
‫فلما طال انتظارها قررت أن‬
...‫تشتري كتاباً لتقضي وقتها‬
‫ واشترت‬،‫واشترت الكتاب‬
.‫معه علبة من الكعكات‬

Beside the armchair ‫وإلى جانب كرسيها كانت‬
where the packet of ‫ وإذا‬،‫هناك علبة الكعكات‬
cookies were kept, ‫برجل غريب يجلس‬
a man sat down, ،‫ يفتح مجلته‬... ‫بجوارها‬
opened his magazine .‫وراح يتصفح أوراقها‬
and started reading.
 When she ate the first ‫ مد الرجل‬،‫عندما أكلت الكعكة األولى‬
cookie, the man took one ‫ فشعرت‬.ً‫يده ليتناول واحدة أيضا‬
also. ‫ وقالت‬.ً‫ لكنها لم تنبس بكلمة‬،‫بغضب‬
She felt infuriated but :‫في بالها‬
didn’t say anything. She !‫”شيء مزعج‬
just thought: ‫ لكنت‬،‫لو أنني في ظروف عادية‬
What a nerve! If I was in ‫ناولته لكمة في عينه تجعله ال ينسى‬
the mood I would punch his “!ً‫جرأته هذه أبدا‬
eye so that he does not
forget this daring!”
،‫ • • وكانت كلما تناولت كعكة‬To each cookie she
.‫يتناول هو اآلخر كعكة‬ ate, the man ate
another one.
‫• حتى كادت تموت من‬
• That was letting her
‫ ولكنها لم تستطع‬،‫الغيظ‬ fume up with rage
.‫ انفعالها‬t‫إظهار‬ but she couldn’t
react.
 When only one ‫حتى إذا لم يتبق في‬
cookie remained, ‫العلبة سوى كعكة‬
she thought: ‫ قالت في‬،‫واحدة‬
“ah... What will :‫نفسها‬
this abused man
do now?” ‫ اآلن سأرى ما‬...‫”آه‬
‫سوف يصنعه هذا‬
Then, the man, “‫الحقير؟‬
divided the last
cookie through ‫ أخذ الرجل‬،ٍ‫عندئذ‬
the middle, ‫الكعكة وشطرها إلى‬
giving her the ‫نصفين وأعطى الفتاة‬
other half. .‫نصفها‬
 Ah! That was too much!
She was too angry!
Then, she caught her book, caught her things
and headed to the boarding place.

‫!آه! شيء ال يحتمل‬

‫!واشتد غضبها‬
‫ وأخذت أغراضها ومضت إلى حيث تركب الطائرة‬،‫وأمسكت بكتابها‬.
When she sat down
on her seat, inside
the plane, she ‫ وبينما هي‬،‫وداخل الطائرة‬
looked into her ‫ نظرت داخل‬،‫جالسه في مقعدها‬
purse to take her ‫حقيبتها فإذا هي تجد الكعكات‬
eyeglasses, and, ،‫التي اشترتها من قبل لم تمسها‬
for her surprise,
her packet of !‫في علبتها المغلقة‬
cookies was there,

ashamed!! !!‫بشدة الخجل‬
She realized
that she was ‫وأدركت أنها‬
the wrong ‫هي التي كانت‬
one... ... ‫مخطئة‬
She had
‫لقد نسيت أنها‬
forgotten
that her ‫وضعت علبة‬
cookies ‫الكعكات داخل‬
were kept in .‫حقيبتها‬
her purse.
The man divided ‫وأدركت أن الرجل هو‬
his cookies with ‫الذي كان يقسم كعكاته‬
her, without feel ‫ من غير أن يشعر‬،‫معها‬
infuriated,
‫بضيق‬
nervous
‫أو غضب‬
or mad...
...‫أو جنون‬

more time to ‫وقت آخر لكي تبرر‬
explain herself... ...‫موقفها‬
Nor to “!‫وال ألن تعتذر‬
apologize!”
