SECTION A: COMPULSORY

QUESTION 1: (40 MARKS)

a) Natural areas are under pressure to cater for an increasing numbers of visitors.
Some people argue that providing modern services and facilities allow authorities
to meet this demand and enhance the experience of visitors. Others maintain that
such developments are not appropriate in and, in fact, degrade the experience of
natural places and increase visitor impact on fragile environments. Discuss to
which extent you agree with this statement. (25 marks)

b) Explain ways in which park managers might respond to increased demand and
yet still provide quality experiences of natural places for all visitors. (15 marks)

a) Discuss the importance of outdoor recreation in the lives of Adolescents or Senior

b) Explain how you would attempt overcome barriers to participation in outdoor


recreation for Adolescents or Senior Citizens. (10 marks)
