- COMMUNITY -

The Terese Convent was founded in the twelfth century in order


to house Nuns belonging to the Carmelite order.

University was born in 1088 in Bologna. The presence of many


foreign students in Bologna (foreign students are still the
majority there) has led to the creation of associations, called
universitates, made by students to protect their rights.

Universitates were very similar to the modern idea of Union.


- RECOVERY/REFUGE -

In 1810 the monastery was suppressed and the Sisters were


transferred to other monasteries; a few years later the monastery
was converted into a girls’ orphanage.
- SPACE OF WORK -

The young orphans were used as skilled workers in the cotton


mill Cotonificio Veneto.
- SEA -

Maritime Station and Ligabue stores have longly been a point


of contact with goods and traders that came from outside the
city.
- PLAY -

Since the Thirties part of the cloister of the orphanage is used


as a Kindergarten; the school still exists.
- HOLIDAY -

The time of school - skholè, originally meaning free time - is


supposedly a time without labour, work or action.
