Joe! Stickley Is the author of the hit blog ‘How To Write
Badly Well’, which has dispensed bad advice to over
half a million vistors since 2009 and is now also a
live comedy show. With long-time collaborator Luke
Wright, he co-wrote the animated film ‘Crash! Bang!
Wallow?, which won the NFBC Short Film Award at the
2010 Cannes Film Festival. The pair also teamed up to
produce the book ‘Who Writes This Crap?’, which the
Guardian called “an inspired piece of parody”.
The live show of ‘Who Writes This Crap?’ had a critically
acclaimed sell-out run at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe,
receiving four-star reviews and attracting more than
a thousand punters over the course of the run.
Joel is a member of AisleL6, whose show ‘Poetry Boyband’
‘was named Time Out Critics’ Choice of the Year 2005. Their
performances at Glastonbury, Latitude, Port Eliot Lit Festival, the
Painburgh Fringe and venues across the UK has fed to widespread
critical acclaim, with the Sunday Times calling them “highlights of
the spoken word scene”. Their 2009 show ‘Aisle6's Nine & A Half
Commandments Of Poetry’ premiered at the Athens International
Book Fair, while their collection ‘Live From The Hellfire Club’ was
published by Eggbox in 2005.
Joel has undertaken various residencies and commissions over
the last few years, including the role of Writer-In-Residence for
the Our Corby project in Northamptonshire and a regular column
‘on the Radio Netherlands Worldwide show Earthbeat. His work
has been featured on BBC radio and television as well as Channel
dh and ITV. In 2011, he was appointed Lincolnshire Poet Laureate
