Mathematical Cupcakes

An assessment task for construction of a net and understanding of geometric language. Room 7 2011

Criteria
To meet the criteria for this assessment you must: Create a net, for a container that will carry one cupcake. Be creative! There is to be no cellotape visible from the outside of the container. to do this you will need flaps on your net. This container must be decorated using examples of Rotation, Reflection and Transformation. The colour scheme of the cupcake must match the container. plan based on resources.

Steps for success:

1. Plan your net, design and colour scheme before you start. 2. Think about the shape your container will be and sketch some plans in your maths book dont forget to think about measurements. 3. Decide who you are going to give your cupcake to, and plan the design based on what they would like. Sketch this design before transferring onto your net to ensure you have an example of translation, rotation and reflection. 4. Select your colours based on cardboard, cupcake base and your planned pattern.
