DRUG AWARENESS

JUNE 25, 2011, SATURDAY ACTIVITY NO. 1 Drugs bring harmful effects on the body if taken, most especially if taken excessively. The widely known illegal drugs in the market are cannabis, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, meth, mushrooms, and opiates. But there are also drugs which have similar effects yet are not forbidden but legally sold and used. They are these anti-depressant drugs. The effects of these drugs are similar to those of the mentioned illegal drugs above wherein when taken excessively could result either into brain damage, increased anxiety, restlessness condition, suicidal tendencies, coma, or even death. Last Saturday, the speaker discussed the main causes why people tend to keep on using illegal drugs most especially the Filipinos. One, it may be caused by poverty and financial crisis for one could profit large amount of money from it. Two, it may also be caused by unemployment and low salary. Of course, for obvious reasons, drugs can give you higher amount of income to sustain sufficiently the daily needs of their family as well as for themselves. And lastly, it may be because of depression, which is caused namely by poverty, unemployment, poor income, problems, and conflicts. But drugs shouldnt be our resort. Truth be told, it wont and never will it help you with the issues youre facing. It would only add up with your problems. As for me, what better way is to face it, find a way or try to resolve your problems, and of course, have faith in God. I wont let drugs get on my way and take hold of my life. Drugs are just drugs, and this is my life. Perhaps a drug-free society shouldnt just be about the government being able to control the drug market, drug dealers, and all its roots. A drug-free society should all come in us. We should know what to be done, what not to be done, what is right, and what is wrong. Thats a drug-free society for me.
