Faculty of Medicine, Sriwijaya University Palembang Background : Nowdays the use of drugs are so often do not follow the existing provisions. Irrational use of drugs (wrong dose, distribution and use) may cause adverse effects such as increased morbidity, side effects, resistance, even mortality. This study aims to determine the rationality of the use of ACE Inhibitor in patients with hypertension in Kertapati Sub-Distric. Research Methods: This research is a retrospective conducted descriptive survey about the rationality of ACE inhibitors in patients with hypertension in Kertapati Sub-District. Results: Out of total 402 samples, 297 (73.9%) of them were female and 105 patients (26.1%) were male patients. Age of patients with the highest incidence to the lowest is 41-60 years as many as 177 patients (44%), > 60 years as many as 165 patients (41%), and the age category 21-40 years 60 patients (14.9%). The 12.5 mg dose given to 335 patients (83.3%) and the dose of 25 mg to 67 patients (16.7%). The distribution frequency of ACE Inhibitors in this study is divided into 2. The frequency of ACE inhibitors mostly given is 2x1 247 (61.4%), and then 1x1 as many as 67 (16.7%). In all of the samples, ACE inhibitors was given orally and consumed after eating. 376 patients (94%) receive combination therapy. While the remaining 26 (6%) received monotherapy. Synergistic interaction consists of 52.8%, potentiation 2.4%, antagonists 44.8% and 21% are unknown interaction. Conclusion: Rationality in Kertapati Palembang Sub- District is good enough in terms of stocks of drugs, drugs dosage, distribution of frequency, distribution method, and drug interactions.
