1.a) What is meant by simulation modeling? Discuss about discrete

event simulation.
b) Write brief notes on simulation of inventory system.

2.a) Discuss the desirable features of a simulation software.

b) Discuss briefly about application oriented simulation packages.

3. What are the techniques for increasing model validity and

credibility? Discuss them indetail.

4.a) Discuss the basic system nomenclature.

b) Explain with an example, modeling of single stage distributed delay
and multi-stage delay.

5.a) What is meant by a state machine? Discuss about synchronous

finite state machine.
b) What is meant by petri net? Discuss the standard petri net
nomenclature.

6.a) Discuss about random walks, and draw the state diagram for a
four-node random walk with reflecting borders.
b) Consider a single server queuing system that allows a single
customer to wait (if needed). Events occur according to a poisson
process at the average rate of 1 customer each 3 minutes and are
served with an exponential service time of mean 15 seconds.
Analyze the steady-state character of the system.

7.a) Discuss about M/M/1 queues.

b) What is meant by system optimization? Discuss about
multidimentional optimization.
