IELTS Tips: 1) The Score The marking schemes depend on the part of the exam.

These are reading, listening, writing and speaking. As far as the reading is concerned, the score you can get is between 0 an 40 points, and they value you in this way: 1 correct: Ielts mark is 1 2: mark is 2 3 to 5: mark is 3 6 to 7: mark is 3.5 8 to 10: mark is 4 11 to 12: mark is 4.5 13 to 17: mark is 5 18 to 21: mark is 5.5 22 to 25: mark is 6 26 to 28: mark is 6.5 29 to 32: mark is 7 33 to 35: mark is 7.5 36 to 37: mark is 8 38: mark is 8.5 39 to 40: mark is 9

9 is the maximum you can get. You have 60 minutes (and no extra time to transfer your questions) to complete the task, which is made up of 3 texts and 40 questions to answer. There can be different type of questions. The important thing is to become familiar with the type of questions they ask, and the golden rule is to underline keywords in these questions, and do a first reading of about 4-5 minutes, just to understand the global meaning and the main issue located in the text, so that, once you have read the questions you know where to go and find the info you need. People are actually used to spend too much time in this operation, because they want to get much more information as they can, but this is not the aim of the text.
