ART
SAVE
THE
SOUL
Maher Zain is the new star of modern Islamic Music with his
meaningful songs that aim to inspire and entertain people and
send a message of peace and hope to the world.
Leaving behind a lucrative career in the mainstream music
industry in New York wherein he worked with internationally
renowned producer RedOne who has worked with chart-topping
artists Akon, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias and the late Michael
Jackson to mention just a few, Maher chose instead to make
music which reflects his roots of being both European, Arab
and Muslim and he is working with Awakening Records (who
launched the career of British artist Sami Yusuf) to inspire the
youth across the world.
In January 2010, in a music competition organized by Nujoom
FM (Egypts biggest music radio station) Mahers track Ya Nabi
Salam Alayka was voted as the Best Song for 2009. Runners up
included big names like Hussein Aljismi, Mohammed Mounir
and Sami Yusuf. Maher has already performed at sold out
concerts in Algeria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, England,
France, Holland, Sweden, and the US amongst others and is fast
becoming the next superstar of Islamic music.
Maher Zains album mixes the sounds of R&B with traditional
spiritual, soul and contemporary pop music, not just updating
spiritual music and inshad but fearlessly reviving it with
contemporary flair. Mahers debut album Thank You Allah is an
instant classic of great power and timeless, unassailably intense
spirituality.
Mini concert Maher Zain Save The Soul will be organized
entirely by Raudhatus Sakinah. Raudhatus Sakinah is an
institution that is officially registered under the Care Centre Act

Rakes In RM3.5
Billion for First Six
Months Of 2010
The media industry in Malaysia
reported a positive performance
for the first six months of this
year, breaching the RM3.5 billion
mark for the first time, Deputy
Minister of International Trade
and Industry Datuk Mukhriz
Mahathir said on Oct 1, 2010.
He said free-to-air television
recorded the most impressive
advertising expenditure growth,
reaching RM1.3 billion.
Those numbers show that
Malaysian companies have
realised the importance of the
new media in order to succeed in
this highly competitive market,
Mukhriz said at the Malaysia
EFFIE Award 2010 ceremony,
here Friday.
He added branded companies,
products and services would
continue to see sustainable
profitability.

RIVER BEAUTIFICATION
PROJECT
A holiday in Melaka is considered
as incomplete without getting on
a cruise along Sungai Melaka that
snakes through this historical city.
The beauty of this river, enhanced
via efforts of the state authorities,
exudes more brilliance at night
due to the thousands of lighted
bulbs strung on new and heritage
buildings as well as on trees that
lined the 4.5km stretch of the river
right from the spice park to the
estuary.
Tourists can hop on 40 boats provided by
Melaka River Cruise, a company owned by
the Melaka River and Coast Development
Corporation (PPSPM). The cruise is on from
9.30am until midnight daily.
More than 40,000 tourists visited the river
each month and they enjoy taking the river
cruise, PPSPM Chief Executive Officer
Baharom Majid told Bernama in Melaka,
Oct.

submit their packages in details, such as number of days of their tours,
places of interest, food and culture offered to tourists.

attract tourists to visit Sarawak through advertisements and promotions.
It will be launch in Singapore on Oct 19, he told reporters when visit the

6% Growth
for Malaysia
The country is poised to register at least a six per cent gross
domestic product (GDP) growth in 2010, fuelled mainly by domestic
demand and consumption, while external factors remain somewhat
dampening.
We believe we can achieve quite a robust growth this year. We
should end up with at least six per cent, Prime Minister Datuk Seri
Najib Tun Razak said in an interview with Martin Soong in The
CNBC Conversation on Sept. 11.
He said despite a staggering 9.5 per cent growth in the first half of the
year, it was overall moderate due to an expectation of the momentum
tapering off in the second.
The Prime Minister said the GDP growth for the first and second
quarter of 2010, was 10.1 per cent and 8.9 per cent respectively.
In the first half of the year, the countrys growth was driven by
sustained expansion in domestic demand and robust growth in
external demand.
Najib said under the New Economic Model (NEM), the government
has identified where the new sources of growth are going to come
from, including how to resuscitate the domestic private economy.
We want the private sector to play a more dominant role. In fact, we
have stated very clearly that to achieve our lofty targets, we have to
raise RM150 billion annually in terms of total investment.
Thats a huge undertaking.Hence, the government has to address
some of the concerns with respect to skills, for example.
We must ensure we move up the value chain in terms of the skills
level, so we have to prime up the human capital development, he
added.
Najib said the country also needs to look at new growth sources,
and it can come not only from consumption and demand, but also
innovation.
If you want to get to six per cent, seven per cent (GDP growth), then
innovation will be the key enabler to achieve that, he explained.
