Introduction/Background: Urban insect pest management involves the study and control of arthropods that affect people, animals, and plants in the human environment. It is not restricted to insects found only in cities and smaller communities but includes a much broader area involving insects and other arthropods associated with the peoples surroundings and activities at home, work, and play, whether in an urban or rural environments. The common insects in urban environments are mosquitoes, termites, ants, flies, bees and cockroaches. These insects are pest and become nuisance in humans house. Objectives: To investigate the commonest urban Insects and the problems that caused by the insects in Section 15 Bandar Baru Bangi. Method: A survey on Urban Insects in Section 15 Bandar Baru Bangi had been conducted to monitor the existence of insects in their residential houses. 30 respondents had been interviewed to answer the questionnaire. The questionnaire comprise of two sections which are i) The Urban Insects ii) Problems caused by Insects. Results: We found that mosquitoes (24/30) and ants (24/30) are the commonest insects found around the house, followed by cockroaches (19/30), flies (13/30), termites (5/30), bees (1/30) and small flies (1/30). The insects had cause problems to human activities; Termites (28%), Mosquitoes (6%), Cockroaches (15%), Flies (14%), Bees and Wasps (12%), Ants (40%). Conclusion: From this survey, we can identify the commonest insects and the problems that caused by the insects. This study will give a new insight in managing the urban insects at the residential areas.
