Brucellosis (Brucella abortus) is a bacterial disease that causes elevated fetal abortions, decreased milk production, and infertility

in undulates (e.g., cattle, elk). The Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) serves as the last reservoir of elevated prevalence of the disease in the U.S., and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department maintains an elk vaccination program in an effort to protect both wild elk (Cervus elaphus) and domestic cattle. The program provides thousands of records consisting of the results of 3 to 6 assays collected from each of several elk at various locations across the GYE since 1973. Our main objective is to provide space-time predictions of disease prevalence and related quantities to aid decisions regarding the timing and location of vaccination efforts. Towards this objective, we report on our efforts to build a Bayesian statistical model to combine the multiple assays and to account for various covariates over time and space.
