artefact, artifact [tfkt]

n 1. something made or given shape by man, such as a tool or a work of art, esp an object of archaeological interest

Portable statue

The second of the above images highlights a small portion of the amazing micro-art located at the top of the statue. 1-2 bearded faces wearing potential crowns could represent the ruler(s) of the society. The second larger figure appears to be wearing a helmet. More "similar " looking helmets on figures below are shown as well - with a slight "phrygian-style" look (preferred style of the Macedonian infantry but also used by others). The clothing appears loose like a cape, robe, toga or possible a tunic of some type. A few small stars and a large star appear on the robe/cape/tunic which seems to likely be decorated throughout the clothing being worn. Either a decoration on the clothing or on a sash contains two five pointed stars with a horseshoe like figure in the middle (a possible buckle). Is this artifact Roman related? The "toga picta" was a purple toga with embroidered golden stars and Phrygian needlework. It was worn by emperors, consuls, officials on celebratory occasions. Generals celebrating a victory also wore the "toga picta". A few Roman helmets did have Phrygian-style to them as well. Ancient Roman coins also have been found in America. What about Macedonian related or another ancient adventurous culture ......... that wasn't supposed to be here? A mixture of cultures on this artifact?
