you wish to see in the world.
Mahatma Gandhi

We are very pleased that Axel Ewald will be our artist-in-residence this sum-
mer. Axel will create an environmental sculpture on the GMC campus. Axel
is active in a variety of fields of artistic creation: sculpture, environmental
sculpture (land art), drawing, environmental design and stage design. He has
participated in a number of international symposia and exhibited in Great
Britain and Israel. He is based at Kibbutz Harduf in Israel where he founded
the Way of the Art School of Visual Arts. His outstanding work can be viewed
on his website www.axelewald.com.

Above and right: environmental sculptures by the artist; Below: sketches for
the Environmental Sculpture envisaged by the artist to be created in the lower
part of the College Campus, in the meadows adjacent to the Poultney River or
on the banks of the river. “The rising and falling, wavelike forms are to
interact with the backdrop of the forest and evoke the image of water
or shipping vessels.” ~Axel Ewald
