0 ABSTRACT
This experiment is titled the effect of catalyst on the chemical rate of reaction. The effect of the catalyst can be recognize throughout the experiment by preparing two test tube with same solution with same amount of droppings that is the oxalic acid, H2S2O4, 4 drops for each test tube and sulphuric acid, H2SO4. Furthermore, the product or the reaction between KMnO4 and H2S2O4 that is Mn2+ for both test tubes will cause the reaction to undergo auto-catalysis as been defined in the introduction. The differences between the two test tubes are the presence of the catalyst, MnSO4 and the amount of drops of potassium permanganate, KMnO4. The reaction time will be recorded as when the moment for the one drop of KMnO4 hit the surface of the solution in the test tube that is the mixture of four drops of H2S2O4 and two drops of H2SO4, and the recording reaction time will be stopped as the colour of the solutions for both test tubes with or without catalyst will be changed or turned to colourless. There will be 12 drops of KMnO4 will be added to the first test tube that do not contain any catalyst in order to compare the reaction time for twelve drops of KMnO4 with the reaction time for one drop of KMnO4 in the other test tube with the presence of catalyst. The graph for the number of drops of KMnO4 against the reaction time for both test tubes is plot after undergoing the experiment. Below shows the reaction between KMnO4 and H2S2O4:

As the result, the effect of catalyst the rate of chemical reaction can be investigated via experimentally.
