‫اﻟﺘﺮاث‪ .‬وﻗﺪ ﺗﻢ زﻳﺎرة ﻣﺪﻳﻨﺔ اﻷﻗﺼﺮ ﻓﻲ ‪ 6‬اآﺘﻮﺑﺮ ‪ 2004‬وﻋﺮض اﻟﻘﻀﻴﺔ ﻋﻠﻲ اﻟﺪآﺘﻮر ﺳﻤﻴﺮ ﻓﺮج واهﺪاﺋﻪ ﻧﺴﺨﺔ‬
‫ﻣﻦ اﻟﺒﺤﺚ وﻣﺎ ﻗﺎﻟﻪ ﻟﻲ ان آﺎن ﻟﻨﺎ ﺣﻖ ﺣﻨﻜﻮن ﻣﻌﺎك وان آﻨﺖ ﻻ اﻋﺘﻘﺪ ذﻟﻚ ؟؟؟؟ ‪ ،‬آﻤﺎ ﺗﻢ ﻋﺮض اﻟﻤﻮﺿﻮع ﻋﻠﻲ‬

 The Role of Media
„ The role that New Media can play to expose the case of Luxor, Egypt
Vs. Luxor, Las Vegas is vital and has a multi-layer impact. The new
media campaign would integrate a multi-language web portal and
media-rich CD-ROM to be mass distributed, thus presenting the case to
public audience. Putting it further into a call for action type of
campaign to start raising some sort of petition among the audience will
make the case stronger. Penetration of this media to the property in
Las Vegas, for example, to sell or distribute the CD-ROM’s that
highlight the Egyptian civilization in Luxor, Egypt will take this to
higher level, promoting the original Luxor and Egypt as a destination.
„ The campaign could be started in phases, to create a build up of the
message. This could be smartly timed with the timing of taking the
case to court. Raising awareness among the public and specialists will
definitely result in a positive outcome. Worst case scenario would be
promoting Egypt as destination and the origin of the myths created in
Las Vegas.
„ Proper financing and planning is essential to reach the required result.
It’s possible to allocate sponsorship packages and raise funds that will
help finance the project.
„ Needless to say the fact that Luxor, Las Vegas registered
www.luxor.com for its web presence is a great loss.
 The Main Question
If we would like in Egypt

On such kind of creation, the architect wants to "tell a story" and our mission is to offer him the
most creative, genuine and unforgettable "words" for it. In 1999 and 2000 NOVIDIS was
involved in two top-class Egyptian-themed projects on the "Cleopatra Needle" Show Lounge
and on the Casino of the Infinity.
Based on historical drawings, we reproduced at the right scale the "Triad of Divinities" along
with hieroglyphs and Egyptian detailing that embellish the walls leading to the entrance of the
Vestibule. The columns colour by NOVIDIS with ancient patina and gold leaves transport back
the visitors in time to experience the regal styles, warm colours and palatial impressions of
ancient Egypt. The unique aging process developed exclusively by NOVIDIS makes people
ask themselves "where did they found these ruins?" instead of "how did they manufactured this
piece?".
The main Entrance to the Casino representing the "Falcon wings Sun with the two snakes"
custom-made to the architect's request was cast in extra-strong plaster and gilded to give a
magnificent atmosphere to the room.
 Replicas would debase originals
„ Recent press reports say that the Antiquities Authority is considering the
question of making replicas of some tombs of the Valley of Kings in Luxor and
displaying them on the Pyramids Plateau.
„ Dr Saleh Lamie, Professor of Islamic Architecture, said that ten years ago a
foreign institute had made a similar suggestion, which was referred to the
National Council for discussion. But the idea was rejected.
„ Replicas would debase the value of the originals, Lamie said, adding that
replicas of ancient Egyptian tombs would become a worldwide phenomenon, and
this would have a negative effect on tourism in Egypt.
„ Dr Lamie referred to an article in an Arabic newspaper, saying that replicas
would have no historic or artistic value and would eventually encourage the
copying of small artifacts and artistic pieces.
„ He believes that a way of enjoying the monuments without long-term damage
has already been developed in an on-site multimedia display kiosk, where a three-
dimensional model of the monument is shown, and visitors can find out what to
expect before they enter the temple or tomb.
„ This would be an ideal method for monuments to which access is difficult or
places where frequent visits cause biological and environmental harm from
accumulated water vapour.
„ The intricacies of design by ancient Egyptians and the authenticity of
handicrafts thousands of years old should prompt a thorough study of the
proposal and weigh up the consequences before making final decision, Dr Lamie
said.
„ However, Dr Lamie commented on the decision by the Culture Minister to have
the statue of Ramses II moved from Ramses Square to Shooting Square, saying
that a preliminary study should be made, taking all safety measures for its
transfer into consideration.
„ The statue should have been moved back to its original place, because the
ancient Egyptians made statues to be placed opposite temples, where they would
be seen from only one angle, he said.
„ "Public squares are not dignified enough for ancient statues," Dr Lamie said
