III. COURSE DESCRIPTION :

Do you want to make enough money so the dreams for your life can come true? If you make that money, will you truly know how to manage it wisely? And do you know the other things besides money that make for a happy long life? This course tries to help you answer those important questions as it is a course anchored in the principles and theories of management. The course covers how to buy or start your own business. It covers the key financial parts of a good business plan. We study good business policies on how to manage your own business venture, with emphasis on practical reality. Ideally, the class will start a theoretical business, name it, do a business plan, and set management policy. Then by keeping the books of that firm, we will see the impact of your decisions on the financial results of the business. However, this is online class, and we will just have to take advantage of what we have electronically. We study how and why decisions influence the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and the impact on liquidity. We truly come to understand the scoreboard of business , and the common sense it all requires of us. It will be challenging, hard work, fun, and may help you make a lot of money in your business career and personal life. The course stresses real business situations mixed with easy to understand number crunching concepts. Build your ability to make wealth generating business decisions, and avoid disasters. IV. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

1. To understand, experience and have a grasp of the actual steps necessary to conceive a business idea, make a business plan, start a new enterprise, raise the money, and run it successfully; 2. To start working in a team with others as a small group challenged to make top management decisions; 3. To understand the impact of your decisions on the financial statement of a business, profitability, liquidity, your personal net worth, and to learn it in a way you will never forget and be able to use it for the rest of your life;

4. To apply and convert theory into actual financial results, understand why we get that result, how to generate a sound return on investment, and many ways to avoid failure; 5. To be able to analyze and evaluate a financial statement. To quickly grasp the true financial condition of a business for investment and management purposes; 6. To build justified confidence in your business plan and financial decisionmaking; 7. To understand the impact of Government and international politics/economics on business, and how to cope with taxes and regulations; 8. To review many of our economic/social problems, and how they relate to business, and our personal lives, and our future; 9. How the Philippine banking system really works, and its global interconnection. V. SKILLS TO BE DEVELOPED: 1. The student develops technical communication skills needed to integrate in the subject, entrepreneurial management. 2. The student develops analytic reading, writing and communication skills. 3. The student develops the ability to apply abstract ideas in the literature and analytic skills to everyday business and organizational experiences. 4. The student develops and uses computer skills required to complete papers presentations.

Method of instruction used to achieve student learning outcomes may include, but are not limited to: 1. Mainly on-line communications 2. Question and Answer thru on-line discussion 3. On-line presentation of Case Analysis 4. Face to face discussion, as scheduled 5. Students are also assigned readings of related literatures on logistics management VIII. METHOD OF EVALUATION Students will be evaluated for progress in and/or acquired learning outcomes by method of evaluation which may include, but are not limited to: 1. On-line class discussion and participation 2. Written short reports/presentation 3. Essays/narrative explanations IX. MEDIUM OF COMMUNICATION

Correct business English is the prescribed language (as much as possible) in all class fora and discussions. X. REFERENCES Possible texts include but are not limited to: All reference materials related to the subject, the Entrepreneurial Management, in the form of any published books, journals, researches, newspapers, magazines, gazettes, internet and online resources.
