Speaker for Los Bexareos Meeting of November 5, 2011 The meeting will be at the first floor Auditorium at the

Central Library at 600 Soledad at 9:30am. Speaker: Mr. Jesus (Corky) Rubio Title of Talk: Memoirs, Reflections and Essays; Adding life to Genealogy Summary: Someday we will join our ancestors with our name and that of our spouse, plus our birth and death dates entered in the litany of our family tree. But we can go beyond that by giving colour and substance to our lives by relating our own earthly experiences in the form of recorded oral or written history. Join Mr. Rubio to see how his essays in his new book will relate life growing up on the Mexican border in the mid-20th century. Biographical Data: Mr. Rubio was born in San Antonio and has lived here 38 years, but was raised in Eagle Pass, Texas. He has a BBA from UT Austin in International Business, MBA in Economics from UTSA and is currently working on his PhD in International Entrepreneurship from Univ. of the Incarnate Word. He worked for Altos Hornos de Mexico before starting his own business, Siderco International, Inc. 32 years ago.He has worked all his life in civic organizations, most recently on the Board of the Institute of Texan Cultures, Bexar County Historical Commission, and Past Chairman of the Board of the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, Founding Board Treasurer of the Children's Museum, President of UTSA Alumni, and 1984 Alumnus of the Year, among many others.He has been married to Carla Martinez of Mexico City for 29 years and they have two daughters, Paulina and Maria Alexandra Rubio. LOS BEXARENOS TABLE AT FOUNDERS' DAY CELEBRATION Date : Saturday, October 22, 2011 Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Location: Alamo grounds We will have a table displaying some of our books, some pictures, and maps to the Resource Center. We will NOT sell books so no one has to handle money. Volunteers are needed for 2 hour shifts. If you have some time to promote Los Bexareos, please call 210 532 2285 and let me know you can help.
