Does poverty or HIV cause AIDS

Charles A Mosley
Project Goals
Of the 246,000 people in Haiti who are
infected with HIV 80% are living in
poverty and also because Haiti is
one of the poorest nations in the
western hemisphere the country is
dependent on foreign aid for, food,
medicines, and such.
Description
In 2002 WHO press
estimated that 29.4
million adults and
children are living with
HIV/AIDS in Sub-Sahara
Africa.
Because HIV/AIDS is being transmitted through
heterosexuals it manly affects the earners of a country.
This depletes counties resources, the future taxpayers,
and creates a viscous circle that keeps the country
behind.
WHO press released in 1994 that the
AIDS epidemic had globally
increased by 60%, and the areas that
produced much of this percentile
was Sub-Sahara Africa.
Competitive Analysis, Cont.
The characteristics of the poor are well
known as well as that of their lack of
working conditions which can lead to
a “ culture of poverty”. Being poor
stereotypically means being
uneducated, generally poor health,
and limited marketable skills. As a
result of having bad health many
contract STDS which usually leds to
contracting HIV.
Technology
Countries with high unemployment
and the majority living in poverty
most participate in “ informal sector
activates”. Also because the
governments resources are mainly
used for testing, prevention and
education are usually not able to be
supplied.
Team/Resources
It cost one Haitian 6,000 dollars per
year to purchase antiviral medicines,
this person is lucky though most of
his meds come from a institution
called ASON ( the association for
national solidarity).
