Clue 1 Jane has $0.50 more than Henry. First add up all the coins in each column. Column 1 = $0.85, column 2 =$0.75, column 3 =$0.25. Since Jane has $0.50 more than Henry The equation would be: Jane = $0.50 + Henry Lets replace Jane with $0.85, and see if it possible for Jane to have $0.85. $0.85 = $0.50 + Henry Henry = $0.35 Is that possible? None of them have $0.35 so that means its impossible for Jane to have $0.85. Lets replace Jane with $0.75. $0.75 = $0.50 + Henry Henry = $0.25 Yes! one of them does have $0.25 change. So that means Jane has $0.75, and Henry has $0.25. So Jonathan must be the one with $0.85.
