How Are Decisions Made in different governments? Tell students the class is now going to be called an organizational system.

You will no longer be students in class, but people in the organizational system. Your teacher will not be the teacher, but judge of the simulation, if you are not playing your role you will be tapped on the head, and must go sit at the back of the room, you will no longer be able to participate in the simulation, but are responsible for learning, by listening and observing.

Who you are: A CITIZEN - YOU ARE A CITIZEN OF AN ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEM. REMEMBER YOU ARE NO LONGER A STUDENT IN A CLASSROOM LEARNING COMMUNITY. What amount of participation and decision-making power you have: NONE! As a citizen of this organizational system YOU cannot participate in any decisions that must be made. You also can not voice your opinion. You must follow exactly what your leader says. What you say and do: OBEY! You wait for a sign from your leader. You freeze and are immediately silent when he/she claps. You rush to your seat and listen to what he/she has to say. No matter what he/she says you must do exactly how he/she commands. NO MATTER WHAT! You may even be told to turn your card, you must.

ROLE CARD Who you are: THE ONLY LEADER

What amount of participation and decision-making power you have: ALL! You are the only leader of this organizational system. You have all the power to make the ALL decisions, however you choose. You do not ask for any opinions of the citizens in your group. What you say and do: Once ACTION has begun, you clap hold your fingers up 1,2,3 (just as the teacher does) and any student not in his/her seat and COMPLETELY silent, you have turn their card, be VERY STRICT. You then tell the students what you have decided they will do....
