F-500 Encapsulator Technology is a unique formulation that neutralizes flammable liquids and vapors, as well as emulsifing hydrocarbon sludge and residue. F-500 in solution with water seeks out and surrounds various forms of hydrocarbons forming micelles or chemical cocoons These encapsul. ated flammable liquids and vapors exhibit near zero LEL readings. F-500 is batch mixed or proportioned into the water supply and may be sprayed, steamed, circulated, or left to stand in the vessel.
Reduces projects duration, contractors can complete more projects and owners get higher utilization out of their tanks and vessels Reduces steam-out time, allows quick vessel entry, and facilitates sludge breakdown and removal Economics Ability to be merged into the shutdown operations, minimizing turnaround time and reducing contractor cost Addition to sludge creates a slurry that allows for easy removal
F-500 and its ingredients were found to comply with CEPA 1999 and are specifically listed for use in soil washing, explosive gas devaporization, and fire fighting
CEPA 1999 listing does NOT mean that CEPA approves, recommends, licenses, certifies, or authorizes the use of F-500.
Environment F-500 is listed as a surface washing agent on the US EPAs NCP product schedule
This listing does NOT mean that EPA approves, recommends, licenses, certifies, or authorizes the use of F-500 on an oil discharge. This listing means only that data have been submitted to EPA as required by subpart J of the National Contingency Plan, Sec. 300.915.
Circulation Applications:
The basic process for vessel and piping decontamination utilizes an F-500 solution circulated at a targeted temperature through all equipment and piping. The primary goal of this procedure is to reduce Benzene to less than 1 ppm, H2S to near zero, and LEL levels to near zero. The secondary goal of this procedure is to remove oils and sludges from equipment and piping. This is done by wetting the solids and walls and by emulsifying the oil and sludges so that they can be removed from the system and recovered with the water phase.
Steaming Applications:
This process allows for the quickest possible method to enter process equipment. F-500 is injected into the steam during a normal steam-out. The F-500 solution becomes part of the steam and contacts all surfaces of the process equipment. The length of time costly temporary circulation pumps are used and the volume of waste generated are greatly reduced. F-500 reduces steam-out time consistently. LEL readings are reduced to the same levels as the circulation process. F-500 solution penetrates into the walls to remove deep-seated hydrocarbons for complete cleaning (tank contents dictate dry or wet steam process).
