Description
Our aim is to design a database management system for car rent. Car rental database management system will provide simple solutions for rental companies. We considered wide range of requirements and we will develop the web based database system which can be used without any installation. This management system will facilitate the functions of any Car Rental Store; it will work as a typical car rent store which provides customers to see the options. Customers will be able to see lists of the cars that are available for the date interval they want for rent and the employees of the store will be able to keep trace the process easily. The reason why this system will be beneficial for both customers and employees is it will be faster.

Requirements
Can I use my international driver's license? Valid drivers licenses issued in your state or country is acceptable as well as international licenses. Do I need insurance? Yes, insurance is required by state law. What are your age requirements? You have to be at least 19 years of age.

Service
Do you pick up and drop off customers? Yes, we have a service to pick up and drop off customers for rentals. Do you deliver and pick up the vehicle? Yes, we do provide these services. Do you pick up at the airports? Yes, we pick up from the airport and deliver to the airport. Do you deliver at the hotels? Yes, we do deliver at hotels but customer needs to be present to sign your rental contract.

Method of payment
What forms of payment do you accept? You can pay cash, cheque, credit card, travels cheque, or debit card. Can I use another persons credit card for renting a vehicle? Yes, but the card holder must present themselves with proper i.d. to sign the rental contract.

Deposit
Do I need a deposit? Yes, a deposit is required for security purposes. The amount of the requested deposit will be returned to you. How much is the deposit? The deposits is based on the type of vehicle, usually from $250.00 to $500.00 for cash deposits.

Type of vehicles
What type of cars do you have? We have economy, compact, mid size, full size, convertibles, vans, SUVs and some exotic cars. Do you have automatic or stick shift cars? We have automatic cars and stick shift cars, make sure you ask for a stick shift in advance. Since most of our cars are automatic. Do you have air conditioned cars? Yes, all our cars have air conditioning. Do you rent cars by the hour? Yes, cars can be rented by the hour with a minimum of 4 hours.

Accessories
Do you offer accessories with your rentals? We do have accessories that can be rented with the vehicles. The accessories are a baby seat, cell phones, and GPS systems.

Additional charges
Is there an additional charge for more than one driver? Yes, additional charges apply when rental vehicle is to be driven by more than one person. Is there an additional charge for fuel? Fuel must be brought back the same way it was given to you. Is there an additional charge for underage? Yes, it only applies to customers that are 21-24 years old.

Out-of-state
Can I drive out-of-state? Vehicles can only be within the state. Contact us for additional fee to take vehicles out-of-state.

Monthly Special
If I rent a vehicle for a month can I get a good price? Yes, vehicles can be rented by the month and receive a special offer.

Discounts
Do you have AAA, travel agencies or airport employee's discounts? Yes, we offer discounts to members of any one of these associations. Do you offer coupons? Yes we do, you can print it out from the web site when available.

Returning vehicles
If I have a flight leaving during your closing hours, is there anywhere I can leave your vehicle? Yes, we have a drop off service. Let us know in advance for instructions on where to leave your vehicle.

Requirements
There should be the internet connection for the server and client because this system will be a web based system. Also server should have enough space for storing and clients web browser should be supported by the JavaScript.

Capabilities
By using The Car Rental Database System clients can manage their rental, payment, employment issues and vehicle issues such as service and insurance. In addition, the customers can check out auto conditions which can be rented from the car rental service. For car rental services y System supports multiple branches. y Booking tracking issues will be much easier i. Drop off and pick up dates and places can be managed on an easy way. ii. Detailed Booking information such as customer and payment information can be tracked. y Reaching Vehicle history and information will be much easier. i. Includes insurance policies information ii. Service history and regular service dates are stored y Detailed customer information i. Address and past rental agreements by the user For customers y Customers can check out the available cars on specific dates and their prices.

Limitations
There are some limitations in our storage system, which goes: y y If multiple customers try to rent the same car for the same date, the system would crash. Customers will have limited ability on our system, so an administrator will be required to set the permissions. y y Customers wont be able to pay via the system. System does not provide detailed information about the process of insurance.

ER Model Explanation

This database system supports multiple branches. Every branch owns many autos to be rent. Rental system works with booking principle. Autos are reserved for customers via the system interface. One customer can reserve many autos on the same or different dates. In order to make the booking agreement customer should do a payment with cash or credit card. This payment can be like deposit. Car rental branches can track regular auto services and insurance policies with the system. The important dates and descriptions are also available. Repair job histories and the past accident information are stored in the system. The dates, changed parts, details and fees of repair jobs can be reached. Also the accidents which the car is involved in are stored with the person information which caused the accident. There are three kind of person on the system; two kinds of them are staff and one of them is the customer. Every person and the branches have their address information on the system.
