Expectations
Just what does it mean to show your work? Students already
know that this is the expectation.

Methods:
You must choose one of the following methods to show your
work:
- Work It Out – Number Sentences, Input/Output
- 4 Square – Problem Solving
- Make a Table (chart) – Input/Output, What’s the Rule?
- Label It! – Fractions, geometry, number lines, graphs

Problem Solving Strategies:


You must do the following on all problems:
- Process of Elimination – Cross out impossible answer choices
- Spotlight – Cover up the answers first
- 50/50 – Narrow your answer choices
- RUCSARC – Read the question, underline important information,
circle the question, show your work, answer the question, read the
problem again, check to make sure you have answered the
question

Checking Strategies:
You must use a Checking Strategy:
- Bottom’s Up – Equivalent Fractions
- Extra Cheese – work backwards using the inverse operation
