Recognise Polygons
A polygon is an enclosed figure on a plane. It is bounded by three or more straight sides. These straight sides meet at a point called a vertex. A vertex is therefore the meeting point of the two sides of a polygon. The line that joint two non-adjacent vertices of a polygons is called a diagonal.

Determine the number of sides, vertices and diagonals of polygons


The number of sides is the same as the number of its vertices. The number of diagonals depends on the type of polygons.

Number of sides =4 Number of vertices = 4 Number of diagonals = 2

Number of sides =5 Number of vertices = 5 Number of diagonals = 5
