Abstract
The present study aims at clarifying the state of Teaching Aids
and Technology in teaching English for Intermediate schools in
Makkah, from the point of view of school principals and educational
advisers. It also attempts to shed some light on the difficulties faced in
using Teaching aids and Teaching Technology.
To answer the study questions ,a questionnaire was administered to a
random of sample of educational advisers and school principals.
The findings of the study were as follows:
. The cassette recorder and audio tapes are the most
available educational equipments at school, while
transparent and instructional films are the least available
ones, from the point of view of educational advisers and
school principals.
. The degree of using teaching aids and modern technology
in teaching English at intermediate schools is medium.
. The main difficulties faced by teachers in the use of the
English language Teaching aids and educational
technology from the viewpoint of the educational advisers
and school principals is the lack of professional
maintenance of equipment and teaching aids within the
school while students not to accept the aids and technology
is the least of these difficulties .
. English language teachers familiar in the production and
development of teaching aids and technology .
. It was no statistically significant differences between the
responses of supervisors and school principals to the study
tool .
And, in light of these findings the researcher recommends :
Providing all kinds of teaching aids and technology in schools, to
allow teachers to use them .
Holding training sessions for teachers in the use of teaching aids
and teaching technology .
The supervisors and managers should pursue the teachers and
encourage them to use the teaching aids and technology of
educational hardware and labs.
