THE QUEEN (2006)

31st August 1997, the world was devastated by the news of the tragic death of the most beloved England s Rose or also known as the People s Princess . Princess Diana s death indeed shook the whole world and made people cry. But there are still some people who looked at Diana s death as an appropriate act for her cheating on the Royal Prince. The movie focuses on the different ways on how England dealt with the death of the most beloved, former commoner, Diana, Princess of Wales. The world was sympathetic about the heartbreaking death of Diana caused by her car crashing on the Alma Bridge Tunnel in Paris. The people of Paris and England gave an outburst of grief and thought that Diana deserves a public funeral wherein they could do more than just bring flowers in front of the Buckingham Palace. However, the Queen thought that Diana s death was supposed to remain a private matter over the families involved and not consider it as a Royal Death. I think the people are right about this situation. No matter what happened between Prince Charles and Diana was a matter out of their hands. I think that even though Prince Charles and Diana divorced, she still deserves to be given a proper funeral rightful for a princess because she was once part of the Royal Family. Also, the Queen s decision to remain silent marked an impression on the people that there is no grief or even the slightest sign of sympathy lingering inside the palace. It s like she has already forgotten that Diana was still once part of her family. This is bad publicity for the Queen. However, I salute the Queen s decision to finally speak to the world about her sentiments on Diana. Imagine the Queen of England speaking of things in accordance to the people s wants. I admire her for her actions. She threw everything away and disregarded the possibilities of what may her speaking bring to her reputation. And that s what made the Queen of England really special.
