Enhancing Careers Through Knowledge


Acquiring additional knowledge in your chosen field is valuable for maintaining career credentials as well positioning you for opportunities. This is accomplished through professional development which refers to skills and knowledge attained for both personal development and career advancement. There are a variety of approaches to professional development, including consultation, coaching, communities of practice, lesson study, mentoring, reflective supervision and technical assistance. It encompasses all types of facilitated learning opportunities, ranging from college degrees to formal coursework, conferences and informal learning opportunities situated in practice. It has been described as intensive and collaborative, ideally incorporating an evaluative stage. This session will explore some of the approaches and how to effectively apply them to enable participants to start thinking about or enhancing their personal plans for growth and success. Ms. Bourda has 20 years of progressive management experience at the senior management level working with and influencing Fortune 500 C-level executives on human resources management and project management issues. Her consulting and sales experience has been both for a software vendor and leading professional services firms. She has been responsible for variety of progressive roles in the areas of strategic consulting, implementation solutions, business development, project/engagement management, subcontractor and alliance relationships, and client relationship management. She has also completed two Bachelor degrees and two Master degrees with emphasis on Organizational Administration as well as professional certifications for project management (PMP) and human resources (SPHR).
