Dara Shikoh, Shah Jahan's elder son translated 50 Upanishads from Sanskrit to Pe rsia.

Dara Shikoh believes the hidden book referred to in the Quran as "Kitab al-maknu n" is none other than Upanishads. Akbar banned sati, legalised widow remarriage, raised the age of marriage but ba nned marriage for Mughal princesses.(1/2) Shah Jahan's daughter Jahanara supported Dara Shikoh agaist Aurangazeb on the as surance Dara would lift the ban on marriage.(2/2) Aurangazeb was the emperor for 150 million people that is 1/4th of the world's p opulation at that time. As a youngster Aurangazeb received a daily allowance of Rs.500 from his father. Aurangzeb considered the royal treasury to be held in trust for the citizens of his empire. Aurangzeb made caps and copied the Quran to earn money for his personal use. Aurangzeb's final military campaign was against the Marathas in 1706 at the age of 88. Aurangazeb died an old man of 88 years. "I came alone and I go as a stranger. I do not know who I am, nor what I have be en doing" - Aurangazeb to his son a month before his death.
