ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR Clinical Instructor Directs, manages and evaluates student learning in the clinical

l setting. Prepares clinical teacher assistants and preceptors for their teaching activities and approaches specific to the level of the learner and courses outcomes. Assists the student in integration of theory and practice, specific to the courses learning activities and level of the learner. Evaluates the students development of clinical reasoning skills. Facilitates clinical seminars (non-DEU in absence of the clinical faculty coordinator). Is available at all times the student is in the clinical setting. Directly observes and guides students learning activities with clients Evaluates students in clinical as related to the UP Program outcomes. Participates as a member of the course team in the courses development and evaluation activities with the lead faculty. Provides timely and ongoing feedback to the lead faculty regarding individual student and group performance in accomplishment of the courses outcomes Evaluates clinical teacher assistants and preceptors for their teaching effectiveness and provides feedback to the lead faculty. Provides feedback to the lead faculty (or to clinical faculty coordinator with DEU) regarding the clinical settings effectiveness in supporting student accomplishment of the course and program outcomes. Collaborates with the unit manager and staff so that the presence of students and their activities are supportive of the units goals and needs. Provides feedback to the lead teacher (or to clinical faculty coordinator when a DEU is available) regarding the clinical settings effectiveness in supporting student accomplishment of the course and program outcomes. Is a resource for nurses for educational opportunities for their professional development. General Objectives: Student nurse will be able to develop their potentials of being efficient andproductive Leaders by nurturing and enhancing their leadership skills by providingtraining in management in team handling. And be able to familiarize with the differentnurse responsibility. Specific Objective:As a student head nurses they will be able to: Apply principles on head nursing and provide nursing standards and policies, andprocedures regarding patients care to guide the subordinates.

Promotes and utilize quality assurance of the program standards. Motivate the nursing staff to provide quality nursing care and improvement innursing care. Manage the flow of activities by implementation of the nursing plan based on thenursing care. Develop a skill in decision-making and other qualities of an efficient head nurse. Coordinate and communicate with the other members of the health team inproviding patient care. Document accurately the observation of the services rendered to the patient. Supervises and evaluate the quality of patient care provided by the staff byobserving them through frequent rounds guided by the evaluation check list. Subordinates: Student staff nurses Responsibilities of a Head Nurse Assumes the responsibility for the delivery of quality patient care to patientswithin the unit.1.Provide nursing standards and policies regarding patient care to guide the staff nurses.2.They have the responsibility of orienting and updating the staff of the systems andstandard of patient care.3.Responsible for the implementation of the health care programs, and standards of patient care.4.Assumes the role of patient advocate.5.Assumes the role of staff members advocate.6.Acts as liaison with the medical staff to coordinate medical and nursingmanagement of patient care.7.Serves as resource person to nursing personnel under him in assessing, planning,implementation and evaluating nursing care provided. 8.Coordinates the patient care with the other members of the health care team.9.Keeps superior informed regarding problems or issues in patient care.10.Evaluates the quality of patient care through frequent rounds.11.Evaluates the nursing standard cyclically to provide development of the newstandards of patient care. STAFF NURSEDefinition The staff nurse is to the one responsible for rendering holistic nursing care topatient in assigned areas, the specific function and responsibilities of which depend uponthe organizational structure of the Nursing service. General objective: Student nurses will be able to develop their knowledge, attitudes and skillsthrough working on this training, and be able to appreciate the importance of team work and working under a directory. Specific Objective:As a student nurses they will be able to: Follow the nursing standards and policies imposed by the nursing administration. Develop a sense of responsibilities and accountabilities on their action they make.

Provide a quality nursing care and services. Develop a good attitude towards the work. Be able to work harmoniously with the fellow students and members of the healthcare team. Develop good nursing skills, attitude and gain knowledge for the future use. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE STAFF NURSE The staff nurse initiate and perform nursing care and services to meet the needs patient inassigned areas utilizing the nursing process.1.Assesses the individual needs for nursing care based on patients history, resultsof physical, diagnostic, and laboratory examinations.2 . I n f e r s c o r r e c t n u r s i n g d i a g n o s i s . 3.Plans and prioritizes nursing care activities considering overall health needs of thepatient.4.Institute nursing intervention consistent with the overall plan of care with specialconsideration of the patients safety and comfort.5.Provides health teaching to patient, his family and significant others so that theymay understand this illness and participate actively in his care.6.Coordinates patient care services with members of the health team.7.Evaluates or modifies of nursing care by means of: Effectiveness and efficiency of nursing measures rendered.
