ABSTRACT

Communication plays the important role to daily life in every human. Spoken form communication which is namely casual conversation always uses to ease party that relating twig with more easily. This communication could come about when prepared both sides have to accept and send message and no restriction among them. If recipient not ready to accept message, so this communication can be considered fail. This is because, recipient will not get message that was presented. With technology development that is rapidly, there are various methods to join the recipient faster. One of the ways that can be considered are catching on was Short Message System or better known as SMS. This is the effective way if the recipient staying outside access. The purpose of this project is to develop a system namely SMS notification for meeting alert and pigeon hole alert system. It is used to give lecturers a notification of important events via SMS using VB.net application and SQL database about the details of meeting that will be held and the status of pigeon hole. This system is to be used in IT department of the Ungku Omar Polytechnics in Ipoh, Perak. The system has been developed by using a few software and hardware which are Ozeki Message Server 6.4.1.0, Nokia express music PC suite (driver), Using Visual Basic.NET 2008, and database Using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express, hardware used are Laptop, Mobile Phone consist of GSM device and data cable.

Komunikasi memainkan peranan penting dalam kehidupan seharian setiap manusia. Perbualan adalah bentuk komunikasi kasual yang mudah digunakan dalam kehidupan seharian manusia. Komunikasi ini boleh datang kira-kira apabila kedua-dua pihak bersedia untuk menerima dan menghantar mesej dan tiada sekatan antara mereka. Jika penerima tidak bersedia untuk menerima mesej, komunikasi ini boleh dianggap gagal. Ini kerana, penerima tidak akan mendapat mesej yang telah disampaikan. Dengan perkembangan teknologi yang pesat, terdapat pelbagai kaedah untuk menyertai penerima dengan lebih cepat. Salah satu cara yang boleh dipertimbangkan adalah Sistem Pesanan Ringkas atau lebih dikenali sebagai SMS. Ini ialah cara efektif jika penerima duduk di luar akses. Tujuan projek ini adalah untuk membangunkan sistem iaitu SMS notification for meeting alert and pigeon hole alert system ". Ia digunakan untuk memberi pensyarah pemberitahuan tentang pengumuman penting melalui SMS dengan menggunakan aplikasi VB.net dan pangkalan data SQL mengenai butir-butir mesyuarat yang akan diadakan dan status pigeon hole. Sistem ini adalah untuk digunakan dalam jabatan IT di Politeknik Ungku Omar Ipoh, Perak. Sistem ini telah dibangunkan dengan menggunakan beberapa perisian dan perkakasan iaitu Ozeki Message Server 6.4.1.0, Nokia ekspres muzik PC suite(pemandu), Menggunakan Visual Basic.NET 2008, dan menggunakan pangkalan data Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, perkakasan yang digunakan ialah Laptop, Telefon bimbit terdiri daripada peranti GSM dan kabel data.
