Euro NCAP hat im November 2011 den MG6 und den Geely Emgrand EC7 aus China vor die Wand gesetzt. Das Ergebnis des Crashtests berrascht. Die Tester sprechen sogar von einem Meilenstein.

Die Technik der Modelle stammt weitgehend vom japanischen Automobilhersteller Daihatsu. Im Jahr 2008 uerte Li sein Interesse, den Automobilhersteller Volvo, eine Tochtergesellschaft der Ford Motor Company, zu bernehmen. Der Vertrag wurde Ende Mrz 2010 unterzeichnet. Die bisherigen Emgrand-Modelle sind preislich zwar noch unter aktuellen auslndischen, aber mehr als 50 % ber den sonstigen chinesischen Fahrzeugen der gleichen Klasse platziert.
