    Teams work to develop social studies units based on a K-5 spiral curriculum. The social studies representative and coach develop the unit outline 6 weeks in advance. At a meeting 3 weeks before teaching, the coach shares an overview of units across grades. Teams then plan daily lessons for their unit over the next 2 weeks.     Social Studies Spiral Building Plan

    6 weeks before unit begins 3 weeks before unit begins 2 weeks before unit begins

    Social Studies rep works with the coach to ush out the unit based on the K-5 Social Studies Spiral.

    At a vertical team meeting (KG2-5) the coach shares an overview of all new units across the grades. (Vertical picture.)

    Teams plan daily sessions based on the unit provided in anticipation of teaching in roughly two weeks.

    Next Year
    Roughly 2 weeks prior to teaching the unit, teams will consider revisions and work to lift the level of the unit while keeping the vertical spiral in mind. At the vertical team meeting (KG2-5) teams share out about their last unit (celebrations and thoughts for revamping. (Vertical picture.)
