CFIP Follow-Up

Celebrations: Teams shared out their successes and future hopes for the Teacher- Led CFIPS. Teachers appreciated. having multiple perspectives and people to bounce ideas off of, the creation of common assignments, the ability to focus on what was important to specific grade levels, the differentiation, the active engagement and the opportunity for reflection. In the future, teams hope to continue working on the completion of challenges, the arrangement for learning, and the opportunity for reflection. Follow-up from Teacher -Led CFIP: Encore Generated possible solutions that would help make time for genuine reflection; some ideas were.making it a point to document daily, jotting down notes on your plans, and having Weebly minimized so that its easily accessible. K /1st Discussed the value in having a vertical opportunity to plan and reflect on student work; they shared out the successes of their challenge and discussed ways to improve it. 2nd Discussed the power of integration in their classrooms; they shared an appreciation for flexibility within the curriculum and felt empowered to arrange for intra and inter disciplinary connections. 3rd Reflected on the successes of launching their Math Workshop; they are using the MAP data to group students and are organizing themselves so that planning and assessments are more manageable. 4th/5th Shared their successes and observations from informative writing; Various ideas for meshing reading and writing instruction were discussed: using Common Core, mini-lessons, sorting activities that led to student-owned definitions, and rubrics that allowed students to exceed the standard! Magnet Reflected on where they were within their integrated Theater unit and shared out a variety of implementation ideas: the use of research rubrics and organizers, identifying sources, conferencing and goal-setting, weekly challenges and social media forums as a way to promote student reflection. Maximizing Meeting Times: In the spirit of fostering leadership within our building, ideas were shared on how teams could possibly maximize their meeting times. Consider the followinga universal agenda that aligns your work with the CES Principles, using ice-breakers and warm-ups to build a collegial culture, setting purposeful norms that support the outcome of your meeting, and capitalizing on the strengths of your teammates to improve productivity. Follow-up Expectations: Implement an idea to strengthen your next meeting time (grade-level, vertical, SMART, etc.) Be prepared to share at next CFIP.
