For many years, our school has been hosting the literary event called The Novel Globe

but unlike every year, this time it had affected me in a completely different way. Selection rounds were rather very depressing since the character Id been looking forward to enact had been granted to one of my fellow classmates, however I ended up chosen for an unusual role I had to impersonate Christopher, a young lad and the son of Madame Doubtfire. Initially I was very excited, as this year, Id have an extraterrestrial experience contrasting the past years when I had been repeatedly chosen to play roles of kidshowever my happiness was short-lived because it then struck me while the rehearsals that, being a girl impersonating a boy wasnt going to be an easy job. Though my friends helped me a lot by pointing out my mistakes but I felt despair all around me. My voice modulation was, as put by my good friend, very girly and my waist-length hair was a disaster- No one could successfully tame the beast ! The dress rehearsal was comparatively better as my friends came up with a great solution concerning the camouflage of my hair- A Jacket with a hoody!!! Never in my life had I praised the phrase A friend in need is a friend indeed more. As the days passed, the classroom became a whole different realm for all of us. Everybody was busy in getting their assigned job done, actors working hard in perfecting their dialogues, the art department preparing the props and the appropriate costumes, the compeers busy with their speech and last but not the least, so were the teachers who have been very helpful and cooperative throughout the whole activity. Finally the day of this mega-event arrived. A guest judge from the Arab News Ms. Mariam Nihal and our senior vice principal, Mrs. Rubab Azad took their seats and the programme began and at last was our performance. It was marvelous and everyone was flawlesswe all shrieked with happiness as the whole auditorium was buzzing with the audiences applause. Our hard-work paid off! It took me all these years to realize what an extraordinary influence it had in my life, and how enacting a few bits of our literature every year gave us an insight to it and helped us understand the literature from a different level. Oh wellwhats next? The results !
