(Sunday), 2012 Time: 10.00 am to 6.00 pm Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA Each year PeKOMIK welcomes members of the media from all over the nation to be part of the Anugerah PeKOMIK annual event. Members of the Press are admitted to Anugerah PeKOMIK with full access and concise coverage. Anugerah PeKOMIK, part if the prime initiatives of PeKOMIK today announced that the 2012 annual awards event will be held on May 19th. to 20th. While Kolej Universiti KDU, Damansara Jaya will play host to the fifth comic books and graphic novels most recognized gala. The main objective for this award is giving recongnition and honor for creative achievement in creating and making Malaysian comic books. Anugerah PeKOMIK were first conferred in 2008, created in response to the effort and brainchid of PeKOMIK members. The nominations in each category are generated by a specially selected three-member panel, then voted on by comic-book professionals and scholar. It is finally presented at the annual award ceremony called the Kemuncak Anugerah PeKOMIK held every year starting at the KL International Book Fair, PWTC (2008-2010), National Library, KL (2011) and for the first time this year in conjuction with MGCCon 2012 at KDU University College, KL. PeKOMIK, being a non-profit organization is dedicated to creating awareness and appreciation for comics and related popular artforms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events like co-organizing the Malaysian Games and Comics Convention (MGCCon) 2012 that celebrates the historic and ongoing contributions of comics to art and culture. In a move to help alleviate the PeKOMIK calendar of events, we have combined our effort with MGCCon, one of the country's first, biggest and best comics, games and popular arts conventions beginning this year.
