Qasidah tul Burdah

Muhammad ( Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is the leader of both worlds and both creations (man and jinn). And of both groups, Arabs and non Arabs. muhammadun sayyidu al-kawnayni wa al-thaqalay / ni wa al-fariqayni min `urbin wa `ajami

Our Prophet, the one who commands (good), forbids (evil). There is non (parallel to him). More truthful than him in saying "No" or "Yes". nabiyyuna al-amiru al-nahi fa la ahadun / abarra fi qawli la minhu wa la na`ami

He is (Allahs) most beloved, whose intercession is hoped for. For every fear (and distress) that is going to come (on the day) of agony (and fears). huwa al-habibu al-ladhi turja shafa`atuhu / li kulli hawlin min al-ahwali muqtahimi

He called (people) towards Allah, so those who cling to him. Clinging to a rope which will never snap. da`a ilallahi fal-mustamsikuna bihi / mustamsikuna bi hablin ghayri munfasimi

He transcends the Ambiyaa, physically and in (noble) character. And (the other Ambiyaa) cannot come near his in knowledge and noble nature kindness. faqa al-nabiyyina fi khalqin wa fi khuluqin / wa la yudanuhu fi `ilmin wa la karami

They all obtained from Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) (Like a) handful (of water) from the ocean or (a few) sips from continuous rains. wa kulluhum min rasulillahi multamisun / gharfan min al-bahri wa rashfan min al-diyami

For he is the one with whom, ended all outward and inward perfection. And then the Creator of all creation chose his as (His) most beloved. fa huwa al-ladhi tamma ma`nahu wa suratuhu / thumma istafahu habiban bari'u al-nasami

He has no equal in his magnificence. The jewel of (excellence) in him is indivisible. munazzahun `an sharikin fi mahasinihi / fa jawharu al-husni fihi ghayru munqasimi

For verily excellence of the Messenger of Allah has no (limits) Bounds, that a speaker might (be able to) express with his mouth. fa inna fadla rasulillahi laysa lahu / haddun fa yu`riba `anhu natiqun bi fami

For verily He is the sun of virtue (and) they (Ambiyaa) are its stars. Which show their lights to people only in the dark. fa innahu shamsu fadlin hum kawakibuha / yuzhirna anwaraha li al-nasi fi al-zulami

Most generous of mankind, I have no one to take refuge in Except You at occurrence of widespread calamity. ya akrama al-khalqi ma li man aludhu bihi / siwaka `inda hululi al-hadithi al-`amami

For verily amongst your bounties is this world, and the hereafter. And part of your knowledge is knowledge of the Preserved Tablet (Lowh), and the Pen. fa inna min judika al-dunya wa darrataha / wa min `ulumika `ilma al-lawhi wa al-qalami

O my Lord! with the Elect One make us attain our goals, and forgive us for what has passed, O Most Munificent One! ya rabbi bi al-mustafa balligh maqasidana / wa ighfir lana ma mada ya wasi`a al-karami

(Then) be pleased with Abu Bakr and Umar (Radiyallahu Anhuma). And Ali and Uthman (Radiyallahu Anhuma), the people of nobility. thumma al-rida `an abi bakrin wa `an `umarin / wa `an `aliyyin wa `an `uthmana dhi al-karami

And upon His family, His companions, then upon those who follow them. The people of piety, knowledge, compassion and generosity. wa al-ali wa al-sahbi thumma al-Tabi`ina lahum / ahli al-tuqa wa al-nuqa wa al-hilmi wa al-karami

Forgive its writer and forgive its reader I ask of You all goodness, O You the Most Charitable and Most Generous. Fagh-fir li-naa she-di ha wagh-fir li qari-I ha / sa-al tu kal khayra Ya thal joodi wal karami

- Look at the Heavens the earth, the shining sun and the moon When Allah made everything he made them all just for you - O My Lord send peace and blessings upon your beloved The Best and Perfect Creation that You have Created - You are the Prophet of Allah, You are a shining light And lighting everyones path and guiding us all the way - Oh Muhammad may there be peace and blessings on you May Allah grant You as promised the maqam of Mahmood - There is no-one like you, there is no-one who's the same So merciful is your nature and so high is your name - Look at Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Mawla Ali We love them for they have spent their lives in your company

- The Lord has sworn by the beauty of the curls in your hair and by the place of your birth and by the cloak that you wear - The Lord has sworn by the glory of the Noor on your face So beautiful Mustafa bless your servants with one gaze. - So beautiful were your moments with Siddique in the cave He stood by you all his life and sleeps by you in the cave. - Ya RasulAllah, how we yearn to meet you one day We wish to fall at your feet & breath our last in that state - Oh Merciful Allah for the sake of your Chosen One fulfill our aims for his sake and grant us all your pardon - Chan Chumda Ay Kadma Nu Ankhay Terey Ya Nabi teray nalayn paak ki kasam - Teri Khatir duniya banayi gayi Ya Nabi teray husn 'O' Jamal ki kasam
