12A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR A REDUCTION OF THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT ON DIXIE HIGHWAY FROM NE 13 TH STREET TO NE 18TH COURT FROM THIRTY (30) MPH TO TWENTY-FIVE (25) MPH.

WHEREAS, after an unfortunate incident involving a fatality, a request has been made by the neighborhood to reduce the posted limit from thirty (30) mph to twenty-five (25) mph; and WHEREAS, a speed study undertaken by Broward County Traffic Engineering Division under the Interlocal Agreement with the City did not warrant the speed established at twenty-five (25) mph; and WHEREAS, the Broward County Traffic Engineering Division establishes speed limit postings in accordance with guidelines outlined in the Florida Department of Transportation document entitled Speed Zoning for Highways, Roads and Streets in Florida; and WHEREAS, if the City supports the installation of speed limit signs of twentyfive (25) mph, the County can be asked to consider making an exception in this case; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. The City Commission hereby expresses support for a reduction of the posted speed limit on Dixie Highway from NE 13 th Street to NE 18th Court from thirty (30) mph to twenty-five (25) mph.
